Pula, a coastal town on the top of the Croatian Istrian peninsula, is known for its protected harbour, shoreline bordered by beaches and Roman ruins.
Inhabited in prehistoric times and appreciated for its strategic position, Pula was occupied, devastated and rebuilt countless times.
The Romans, Ostrogoths, and Venetians, as well as Allied forces in World War II, ruled the city.
