House Pićan, 316m2
The drink is certainly inhabited in distant prehistory.
There are authors who tied the name Pucinum right next to Pićan, which both Pliny and Ptolemy call a fortress in the interior of Istria, which was also famous in the Roman court for its particularly good wine.
The only visible trace of the Roman presence today is an inscription on the stone built into the doorpost of the house opposite the bell tower mentioned by Lucia Caonalia from the family Pupinia which we find elsewhere in Istria (Kringa, Pula, Poreč, Koper, Trieste).
During the rule of Byzantium, Pićan was the administrative center of the central part of Istria.
From late antiquity until the end of the 18th century in Pićan was the seat of the diocese of the same name, one of the oldest but also the smallest in the Christian world in general.
In the Middle Ages, not only ecclesiastical, but also secular power in Pićan had Aquileia patriarchs, after which Pićan was included in the Pazin estate.
While the coastal towns of Istria were gradually moving towards Venice, Pićan, together with Pazin and its surroundings, had a completely different destiny.
1374.
year, under the name of Pazin principality under the agreement on inheritance becomes private property of the Habsburg family.
The oldest parts of the Histrian fortress were located on the hill of Kalvarija, north of the present settlement, and then the village of Popić with its natural surroundings near the Sopot waterfall settled at the foot of it.
In this part of the village there are abandoned old houses of interesting architecture, with rustic lintels and staircases sometimes carved into the living rock, which are just waiting to breathe new life into them.
This way, for sale is one of the oldest houses in the area, a ruin plot of 316 m2 for adaptation, with the surrounding agricultural land of only 52 731 m2 including arable land and old vineyards.

A 3 km long hand leading to the beautiful waterfall Sopot.
