In Višnjan, a thousand-year-old town not far from Poreč, lies the second most successful observatory of all time in detecting and tracking asteroids potentially dangerous for our planet.
Believe it or not, this little observatory is from the beginning of 2019.
It has done more than half the work of tracking smaller bodies passing by the earth (NEO Near Earth Objects), ranking ahead of the US military and the European Space Agency (ESA).
The best of them in this important business was only US NASA this year!
Nothing new, better experts will say, because the successes of the Višnjan Observatory in this area have been going on for decades, and its first man Korado Korlević is one of the most successful asteroid hunters in history.
