Barban is a small picturesque medieval settlement of the Acropolis type in Istria, in the southeast of the Istrian peninsula situated above the Raša River valley: It is only 20 km from Pula and 12 km from Labin.
It is well connected by main roads: main roads Pula-Rijeka, regional roads Barban Žminj and Barban Vodnjan.
It is known for the knightly game Ring race, traditionally held in August, fig and fig festival and other smaller events that have developed in the last ten years since the rapid development of rural tourism.
